At Kimichi School we pride ourselves on producing independent, well rounded and happy individuals.

Small class sizes, individual learning plans, bespoke SEMH support and our unique approach to education means that Kimichi School is the perfect place for those young people who do not necessarily fit into the mould of mainstream education.

Kimichi School is not a Section 41, or Special school, and we have limited resources to be able to properly support SEND children.

However, we have had success with students who have suffered form anxiety-based school avoidance/refusal. Young people with ASC and mild ADHD have the potential to flourish in our setting. Each of these limited places is subject to a two-day trial and assessment of individual need.

All of our staff receive regular SEND training with a mix of qualifications in Child Pyschology, CBT, Mindfulness, Autism and ADHD  and the school follows the SEND Code of Conduct in so far as meeting the criteria we agree to as an Independent School.

Whilst we are lucky enough to have procured the services of a mental health and wellbeing practitioner, the two should not be confused.

We would advise, in the first instance, to email with any queries regarding SEND and a place at Kimichi. We will always endeavour to meet with parents to see if this might be the place for their child, but we are also committed to the best possible outcome for every child, so would never accept a SEND child without being sure that we could properly support and nourish them throughout their time here.

Those young people with EHC plans will be looked at on a case-by-case basis, dependent on trial days and our ability to meet their needs.
