We are very excited to host The Film Orchestra! They are the UK’s 1st amateur orchestra solely dedicated to performing music from the world of Film, Television and Gaming. They are regularly seeking musicians to set up new bands/orchestra/choirs at the Kimichi School, Acocks Green.
The Film Orchestra has grown from a rehearsal orchestra for 40 grade 6+ musicians set up in February 2013, to a project which comprises wind bands, TfO String Orchestra, a pop-up choir as well as the full The Film Orchestra.
The project was launched in Worcester in February 2013 by Founder, Jane Whittle & Manager, Edward Roberts-Malpass to bring together musicians aged 8 to 85, from around grade 3 standard to professional, to enjoy the experience of the performance of film music.
Completely self-funded and run by volunteers, each ensemble has its own experienced conductor and team of advanced musicians who act as mentors to the younger and less- experienced players.
As well as encouraging young people to develop their ensemble music- making skills, many adults have joined the ranks to brush up on skills they had thought long forgotten.
All rehearsals are held every second Sunday of the month from 2-4pm.
The project is supported by professionals from the film music world, including Worcestershire-based film composer Hilgrove Kenrick and Phil Watkins of Maestro PR, London.
Interested persons please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, email address, instrument and approximate standard/grade.
